Ground you can use again
Oak Ridge Land Management works out of Lincolnton. Lazaro Creagh answers the phone, comes out to walk the property and prices the job himself, so the person you talk to is the person running the machine.
Most jobs in and around town are some version of the same problem: ground that used to be open has grown shut. A back lot gone to briars and privet, a pasture edge creeping in, a fence line you cannot find any more. The mulching head takes that growth down where it stands and leaves it on the ground as mulch, with no burn pile and no trailer loads hauled away.
Lincolnton sits on the South Fork of the Catawba River, and a lot of the land around town is rolling Piedmont ground with red clay under it. Clay holds water, so cleared ground that is left bare tends to rut and wash. Leaving the mulch layer down after clearing covers that soil instead of scraping it, which is a big part of why forestry mulching suits this area.
Out toward the county roads the work leans toward acreage: woodlots that need the underbrush opened up, pasture that needs taking back to the tree line, and long drives that turn soft every winter. In town it is more often a single overgrown lot or a back yard that has been let go for a few years.
Seven services, one machine on site
- Forestry Mulching. One machine in, mulch on the ground, nothing hauled out.
- Land Clearing. Take the tree line back to where you want it.
- Brush & Underbrush Clearing. Open the ground under a canopy you want to keep.
- Grading. Level it, shape it, get the water moving off it.
- Stump Grinding. Below grade, backfilled, done with it.
- Trails & Gravel Driveways. A way in that holds up in February.
- Storm Debris Cleanup. Downed limbs and blown-over trees, gone.
Lincolnton questions
Do you charge to come look at land in Lincolnton?
No. Estimates are free. Lazaro walks the property with you, you mark the line you want held and what stays, and you get a number before anything starts.
Can you clear the underbrush but keep the big trees on my lot?
Yes. That is brush and underbrush clearing. The mature trees stay standing and the tangle under them goes through the mulching head, so the ground opens up without losing the canopy.
What happens to all the brush after you clear it?
It stays on the property as a mulch bed. Forestry mulching grinds the material where it stands, so there is no burn pile to permit and nothing hauled off.
